Brian Onyango, a Hatua Student in High School Owns a Company!

My name is Brian Onyango, and I am a beneficiary of Hatua Likoni. I study at Moi Forces academy at Mombasa in Form three. I am in a club at my school called Junior Achievement Club.

As part of this club, I have started a small company in which I am the Chief Executive Officer. In this company, I sell shares to students to obtain capital. I then use the money to buy goods such as pens, pencils and sweets. I sell these products and get profits.

The money is then kept by the company’s Financial Manager. I support other employees as well, such as the Products Manager in charge of getting goods, Marketing Manager in charge of sell’s and advertising and Human Resources Manager in charge of employing and getting feedback on what the consumers

say about our goods.

After seven months, we plan to dissolve the company and return the shares and dividends to investors . This is just the beginning of my business endeavours as I plan to start even a bigger company out there.

With the Junior Achievement club, we face challenges like any other company out there, including competition from other schools and groups. However, my goal is–and will always be–to make my company the best.

I thank Hatua Likoni because they pay for my school fees and give me a chance to attend mentoring classes where I have gained the skills and knowledge to be a good business person. They have taught me that I can be the best in whatever I put my mind into and that I should always think outside the box.
