We are excited to announce that our Library Fundraiser this past Saturday was a huge success!! The Harambee raise 85,124 kshs,of which 9,450 came from parents of our scholarship students, 5,400 kshs from Cooperative Bank in Likoni, and 18,900 kshs from Post Bank Mombasa to be used to build shelves. In addition SDL Foundation has pledge 420,000 kshs, 300,000 to set up a computer lab in the Library and 120,000 to help construct book shelves. This brings out total raised to 590,364 Kshs!!

We are still expecting donations from our local MP, the Community Development Fund (CDF), Kenya Ferry Services and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, which has promised to match the amount we have raised so far.
We extend our gratitude to
SDL Foundation, Post Bank, Co-operative Bank, Likoni’s Chief, local administration representatives, and the many teachers and education leaders who attended and contributed to our cause. We also thank Likoni’s Library Steering Committee,comprising of Primary and Secondary School Head Masters,representatives from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Hatua staff, and other stakeholders for their work to equip Likoni’s Library. We thank our scholarship students and their parents for assisting to prepare the venue and clearing up after the event, and finally, we thank Desi Ahmed and Juma Mwanyiro , Hatua’s Library Development interns, who worked exceptionally hard to organize the Harambee.
