Last month Hatua added 10 new college & university students to our scholarship program. This increased our total number of scholarship students to 144.
Six of our new students are in University, and four are in College. They are pursuing the following courses:
Degree in Biochemistry at Jomo Kenyatta University
Diploma in Clinical Medicine at Kenya Medical Training College
Degree in Economics & Statistics at Kenyatta University
Degree in Marine Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University
Degree in Medical Laboratory Science at Technical University of Mombasa
Degree in Conflict Resolution & Humanitarian Assistance at Masinde Muliro University
Diploma in Business & Supply Management at Mombasa Technical Training College
Diploma in Clinical Medicine at Kenya Medical Training College
Degree in Development Studies at Maseno University
Certificate of Public Accounting at STAR College
Our new students were selected based on their end of secondary school exam results, application essays, teacher recommendation letters, in person interviews and home visits during which we evaluated each family’s financial need. All 10 would have been unable to continue their education without a scholarship, but now they are enrolled in their respective colleges and universities. They are thrilled to have a chance to further their education, and we are thrilled to support them. With the addition of these 10 students, Hatua now sponsors 2 students in primary, 107 in secondary, 10 in College and 25 in University.
As our secondary students go back to school for third term, and our college & university students begin the first term of their new academic year, we wish them success and we thank all our supporters for contributing towards their education.
