Hatua Farming Project

In Kenya it is the rainy season, and during this period, many people are involved in farming. This year, Hatua Likoni has started an experimental farming project.

Hatua bought a five acre piece of land at Kwale County with the aim of farming in the future. The land is beautiful and has a stream running through it. We have decided this year is the year to start farming. We cultivated half the land and planted maize.

If the project is successful, we will sell the maize to the neighbouring schools and use the money to develop the land for more farming in future. We plan on digging a well, fencing the land and constructing a house for the farm

attendant.

This project has been started and managed by Hatua’s Program Coordinator, Peter Kwame who hopes by the end of the season the project will be a great success.

“It is my first time to do a farming project and am really excited about this. It is different from the projects that I have been doing and challenges me all the time. And within three months we will know what we have accomplished!” Said Kwame.
