Every month in Likoni alone, there are roughly 18,800 cases of respiratory related diseases diagnosed. There are also an average of 11,117 cases of Malaria, 5,336 cases of Diarrhea, and 2,394 cases of Pneumonia diagnosed every month among children and adults. These diseases are often preventable and almost always treatable, but often Likoni residents go without treatment because of poverty.
Hatua recognized the importance of quality medical care and the hardship that befalls families who cannot afford it. To combat these issues Hatua, in partnership with the Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals (KAMMP), Pamoja Africa Initiative and the Likoni Community Football League, is organizing a free medical camp on
30th November and 1st December 2013 at Likoni Secondary School. Our goal is to provide general medical care, dental and
eye care to 5,000 Likoni residents.
